2006 New Hope Outdoor Arts & Crafts Festival Exhibitors Deadline

The deadline for applications submission is July 15, 2006.

The 13th Annual Juried New Hope Outdoor Arts & Crafts Festival will take place on Saturday, September 30th from 10:30-6pm and Sunday, October 1st, 2006 from 10:30-5pm. We will have more than 120 booths this year. Prizes, gifts, and discounts will be awarded.

New Hope Chamber By-laws meeting - April 4

The Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce will be holding a meeting on April 4, 2006 to discuss proposed changes to the by-laws. This meeting is being held at the request of the membership and will be at 6:30 pm at Triumph Brewing Company in Union Square. It is important that all members concerned attend this meeting.

New Hope Impressionist vs Modernists: Tempest in a teapot?

Was it a revolution, evolution or both? Much has been made of the conflict between New Hope's established Impressionist artists and the area's emerging Modernists. Sparked by the rejection of an "avant-garde" canal scene by Lloyd Ney, the dissonance surfaced when he tried to enter his painting at a Phillips' Mill art show in 1930. A "tempest" ensued as Ney, a local artist, left the group of traditionalists to become a founder of "The New Group," formed to encourage the more modern painters working in the area.
