NEW HOPE’S “SECOND SATURDAY” CHOCOLATE FEST, SEPTEMBER 13

Art galleries, shops, restaurants and accommodations in New Hope are joining together for Chocolate Fest during September’s town-wide Second Saturday event. From chocolate covered cherries at Image Makers Art Gallery to Chocolate Stout on tap at Triumph Brewing Company, cocoa creations await New Hope visitors on Saturday, September 13 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (or later). Free guided gallery tours take place again this month beginning at 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the New Hope Visitors Center on the corner of South Main and West Mechanic Streets. “SECOND SATURDAY” ON AUGUST 9 FEATURES FREE GUIDED GALLERY TOURS

Seven art galleries and one antique shop in New Hope participate in FREE guided gallery tours during “Second Saturday” on August 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. or later General tours begin at the New Hope Visitors Center on the corner of Main and Mechanic Streets at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. A third tour at 8:00 p.m. is a gay- and lesbian-friendly tour led by Louis Licitra, Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce President. All three tours offer approximately 15 minutes at each participating location. Guides provide background information on the gallery and the exhibits on view, as well as details about New Hope’s artistic heritage. Galleries remain open until at least 9:00 p.m. or later for return visits. Many of the galleries and shops offer complimentary refreshments or hors d’oevres during Second Saturday.

CHAMBER MEETING & BUSINESS AUTHOR EVENT ON JULY 29

The Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce hosts a public meeting and business card exchange on Tuesday, July 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Havana Bar & Grill at 105 South Main Street in New Hope. As part of the Chamber’s commitment to improving communications between the business community and the New Hope Borough, this event allows for open discussion of concerns and ideas that would make for a better local business environment. There is no fee to participate and both Chamber members and non-members are encouraged to attend.

The Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce has extended its deadline for artists and craftspeople interested in participating in the 15th annual New Hope Outdoor Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This esteemed event highlights the work of approximately 135 premier artists and artisans specializing in photography, watercolors, oils, pastels, pen and ink drawings, silver and gold jewelry, ceramics, wearable art, glass, wood, sculpture and furniture.
